Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka got off to a good start, with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis putting on a 50-run partnership for the first wicket. However, Bangladesh bowlers came back strongly and took quick wickets to reduce Sri Lanka to 72/3 in the 13th over.

Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama then put on a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket to revive Sri Lanka's innings. Asalanka scored a brilliant 75 runs off 82 balls, while Samarawickrama made a solid 50 runs off 63 balls. Sri Lanka eventually finished their innings on 279/10 in 49 overs.

Bangladesh got off to a bad start in reply, losing their first two wickets for just 20 runs. However, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim then put on a 100-run partnership for the third wicket to bring Bangladesh back into the game. Shakib scored a brilliant 90 runs off 98 balls, while Mushfiqur made a solid 60 runs off 72 balls.

Bangladesh were in a good position to win the match at one stage, but they lost quick wickets in the middle overs and were eventually bowled out for 267 runs in 48.3 overs.

Man of the Match: Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka)

Asalanka was the Man of the Match for his brilliant 75 runs off 82 balls. His innings helped Sri Lanka to post a competitive total on the board. He also took two wickets with the ball.
